My last night...

Yes, tonight is my last night before I go back to work tomorrow. UGH! I've been pouting all day. I really love my job (teaching), but I REALLY LOVE being home all day. Even if I have to do the laundry, cleaning, dishes, and overall clean up of the entire home. I LOVE being home when the kids get off the bus or when I get to pick them up from school. I LOVE having the energy and patience for them when they want to talk or need help to do their homework. I LOVE playing with them, especially rough-housing and wrestling with all 4 of them. I LOVE playing with my pups and having them snuggle with me or just follow me around the house all day. I'm going to MISS all of this SO MUCH tomorrow.

But, I will be going to a job I do like a lot. I love working with the kids and my EC team is awesome. I have a lot of fun at work and a lot of laughs. It's nice to have a paycheck to help with all of the bills. It's great to keep learning and investing in my future. It's a great job to have because I can be home by 4pm, almost the same time the kids get home from school. It's great to have a job that lets me have my summer months off with my kids or have them come with me to work in the summer while I set up the classroom.

But, I'm really going to miss HOME! I love being home. I'm a home-body!

So, on my last evening with the family, this is what I did:

I snuggled with Muluken!

Acting goofy with my little man!

And played with my 4 little 3-week old puppies!
They're SO adorable!!

So, tonight is my last night before I go back to work. Yes, I was bummed today. But, tonight I'm at peace with going back. Everything will work out. I will put a smile on my face tomorrow morning. Even if I have to get up at 5:15am, because I get to look forward to getting home at 4pm and spending some time with all 4 of my kids, my hubby, and all of my furry friends!

And now some pictures...

One Month Home...

I can't believe Muluken has been home for an entire month already. Where has the time gone?! He has experienced so many "firsts" and it has been quite a ride watching him. He is an amazing little guy who has a smile that lights up a room!

Here are some facts about Muluken:

* He LOVES to sing and dance, especially when we're at home, where he feels most comfortable.

* He LOVES to play outside in the snow with trucks. He likes to sled down the hill and throw snowballs.

* He likes to ride on his Dad's four-wheeler and also be pulled in a sled behind the four-wheeler.

* He likes to play with some large trucks (Noah's old ones) all over the house. He lines them up & turns them all on. He also parks them all behind a chair in the living room at night.

* He was scared of the bubbles in the bathtub the first night home, but once we put them on his skin and he figured he wasn't going to get hurt, he LOVES to take baths.

* He went to the mall and looked, and looked, and looked, at everything. He was taking it all in.

* He thought the mannequins in the stores were real. I even caught him putting his hand in the mannequins.

* He likes to take pictures with my camera, especially of himself!

* He likes all the animals, but has a special place in his heart for our Tia.

* He likes to tumble. He does front and back sommersaults, stands on his head, and even made the "monkey club" for climbing all the way to the top of a rope suspended from the ceiling at school.

* He started kindergarten on February 8th. We went for a few hours the first day, the entire morning the second day, and stayed the entire day on the third day. On the fourth day (Thursday), I had to leave him there after lunch by himself, because I knew I was coming down with the stomach flu. He cried. He broke down and tried to claw his way out of the classroom to come with me. My heart broke. I knew he was thinking I wasn't coming back, but I knew I was going to get sick if I didn't get home soon.

* He went to the doctor a few times. Mostly for his sisters. I took him in for a well-child visit. No shots this time, so he was fine. He did have a bad cold that was on his way to pneumonia, so he had to get an antibiotic. Took it great the first night, and then refused to take it the second night. UGH!

* Dad took him to the doctor for immunizations. 3 of them. Muluken was not happy, and refused to look at Brad the entire way home.

* Dad took him to his first dentist appointment. Muluken was NOT happy again. They counted a LOT of cavities and gave us a referral to a pediatric dentist.

* Dad took him to the pediatric dentist on February 12th. Muluken was a trooper. Had x-rays done without a problem and left with a smile on his face!

* He LOVES the Nintendo DS. He doesn't always know how to play every game, but that doesn't deter him. He also got VERY upset when we decided to start to monitor how much game playing. He was MAD! He actually cried an entire afternoon because he didn't get the DS. Now, we give it to him on the weekends or at special times (long car rides). He still isn't happy about this but it's working so far.

* He's very shy around others. He doesn't usually talk to anybody, unless he feels that he knows them or nobody else is around. When he does talk to others, he is VERY soft-spoken.

* He's talked to his best friend, Mihretu, 2 times on the phone and met him once at Monkey Joe's to play for an afternoon. How awesome to have his friend from Ethiopia live only an hour away!!

* He tells me "I LOVE YOU" all the time. He gives me big bear hugs. He loves to snuggle with me. He likes to crawl into our bed and lay with us. We tickle him, smooch him, and just love on him. He is just so SWEET!

* He folds his hands and closes his eyes while we say prayers. Just precious!

* He eats almost everything we eat. He likes pizza, spaghetti, waffles, peanut butter, crackers, chicken, cereal, POPCORN (especially cheese popcorn).

* He uses his manners all the time: thank you, sorry, please;

* He wears size 4T and 4 for clothes and size 10 shoes.

* He's a peanut but not the smallest in his class. Actually, he looks quite average in his class.

* He's a very well known little boy in our school district. Between our other 3 children and then my 2 nephews in the high school, almost everybody has heard that we adopted Muluken and they all want to meet him.

* I can't believe I was in Africa and brought home my son!

Now, that's a list...
